A gift big enough for the whole family
Most free templates have one box per parent and room for two or three kids. Here you enter who belongs to whom, and every child sits under the right couple.
Second marriages
Each marriage gets its own branch, joined by a dashed line, so half-siblings sit under their own parents.
Big families
Nine children in one row? The chart grows wider instead of squeezing names.
Parents who never married
A couple without a wedding date is drawn as a couple, just without the “m.” line.
Same-sex couples
Two husbands or two wives are drawn like any other couple, with no pink and blue boxes.
Three steps to a wrapped gift
Step 1
Add your family
Type names and years, starting with one couple, or upload a GEDCOM file from Ancestry, MyHeritage or your family tree program.
Step 2
Pick the chart, look and size
Descendants, ancestors or hourglass, in four looks, at 11×17, 18×24 or 24×36 inches. Nothing is locked while you decide.
Step 3
Print, frame and wrap
Pay $12 for the clean PDF and PNG and print it at a copy shop or online. Short on time? Email the PDF with a note and frame it together later.
Printing and gift tips
- 18×24 and 24×36 inches are standard poster frame sizes, sold ready-made at most craft and home stores.
- Ask for matte poster paper. The PDF is vector, so names stay sharp at full size.
- If an online printer won’t take a PDF, upload the 300-dpi PNG instead.
- Giving it for the holidays? Leave a few days for printing and framing. Short on time, email the PDF with a note and frame it together later.
Choose a look for their wall
Switch looks as often as you like before you buy. Names, dates and layout stay the same; only the paper, type and lines change.
Navy & gold
Gold on deep navy. Our pick for a gift.
Parchment
Old-style serif on warm paper.
Minimal
Black lines on white, easy to read.
Botanical
Soft greens with leaf sprigs.
Three chart types, one set of names
Descendants of a couple
Everyone who came from one couple: their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with every marriage. The usual pick for a reunion, an anniversary or a grandparent’s gift.
Ancestors
One person and the generations behind them, from 3 up to 6 generations back. Good for a school project or a pedigree chart from your research.
Hourglass
One person in the middle, their ancestors above and their children and grandchildren below. Shows where a grandparent came from and the family they started.
